Someone nicked my trainers!

The last few days have consisted of pretty much lazing around on the beach when it has not been raining.

Yesterday was a bit of a washout as it rained all day.

On Thursday I booked a learn to surf lesson and spent a great 2 hours trying to stand on the board. It was great fun and tiring; I hadn’t realised how hard it would be to keep paddling out to the breaking waves.

Managed to have quite a few good rides towards the end of session which made it all well worth it.

Today is fantastic. Clear blue sky and I expect it to be a scorcher.

I woke up pretty early today, at about 5:30 am, so decided to go for a run down the beach. I trotted off to the beach, which is about 300m from where I’m staying, and decided to run bare foot along the sand. I left my water and trainers on the beach and took off. 45 minutes later I returned to find that some thieving towrag had nicked my trainers … and my bottle of water! They didn’t even leave me that.

I’ve just got back from the Police station where I’ve reported it so that the insurance company will pay up. Shortly I’ll be off to the shops to buy another pair … there’s always an upside to these things.

It’s 1 April as I write this, but this is no April Fools!

Life’s a beach

Arrived in Surfers Paradise in Queensland, Australia. The beach here is beautiful and the weather fantastic, even at this time of year. I suppose it would be in comparison to what I’m used to in the UK. Temperatures are around 30 degrees which is hotter than a good summer’s day for me.

As a result I got sunburnt yesterday – difficult to cream your back on your own! Today I plan on chilling out a bit rather than lying on the beach. I need to slap on some aftersun.

I fancy having a go at learning to surf so will be checking that out too.

I’m still having a job getting used to the time difference, it’s 10 hours ahead for me here. Sleeping is fine, it’s just I want to sleep at the wrong time!

I’m now in Singapore

A quick post from Changi airport in Singapore after rather a long flight in goats and chickens class. Longest flight I’ve had to take. Just a brief stop before the onward stint to Brisbane and the beautiful Gold Coast.
